Jeff Perry…a Man Worth Supporting
Here in Massachusetts, we have sent a slate of ALL democrats to the D.C. House for way too long. While it is likely that a couple (hopefully more) of our representatives in Congress get removed this November, it was truly a gift when Bill Delahunt, a 14 year veteran of overspending, decided to retire.
Delahunt’s seat goes from Quincy and hooks down into Cape Cod. For a long time it was a republican seat and, with the right candidate in this climate, can be regained. I believe that Jeff Perry is the right candidate.
I had the pleasure of spending some time with Jeff Perry at a friend’s home in Bourne last week. The pleasure was enhanced by a spectacular view of the ocean and Kathy’s congo bars. Along with Scott Brown, Jeff Perry has been one of the most vocal and aggressive opponents of overspending in the Massachusetts state government over the past eight years. Jeff is a believer in terms limits and was serving his last term when he decided to run for Congress.
Jeff Perry is most famous for the “Perry Amendment.” Perry’s amendment was proposed as part of the 2011 budget. In short, it states that anyone who is to receive benefits from the state must be eligible for them. Imagine. Seems simple enough. However, opponents believe that this is too harsh on illegal immigrants. If Perry’s Amendment passed, the recipients of benefits would have to show proof of residency.
A poll was taken just prior to the Massachusetts House vote showing that 70% of Massachusetts voters approved of Perry’s Amendment. However, the amendment lost once again in the State House. This time it was by a vote of 82 to 75. However, the word in political circles is that it was a fixed vote where anyone democrat who is considered to be in a tight race was allowed to vote for the amendment this year because it would play well for them in November.
In any climate, Jeff Perry is a man worth supporting. He believes in small government, he believes in reducing taxes, he believes in free enterprise, and he believed in LEGAL immigration way before it was fashionable.
