Today, State Representative and candidate for Congress Jeff Perry (10th Massachusetts) added to his growing and impressive list of endorsements.

Former State Senator Edward Kirby of Whitman has officially endorsed Jeff Perry in support of his bid to win the open seat in the 10th Massachusetts Congressional District. Senator Kirby had a long and well-respected political career. In 1960 he was elected to represent the 5th Plymouth District in the House and served for three terms. Kirby became a Plymouth County Commissioner in 1968, serving from 1968 to 1976. He next represented the 2nd Plymouth District in the Massachusetts Senate (1981-1989) and the Plymouth and Barnstable District (1989-1992).

The Sandwich Police Superior Officers/Mass Cop Local 368 has also voted to endorse Jeff Perry for Congress. Jeff Perry is a graduate of the Plymouth Police Academy and served as a Wareham Police Officer/Sergeant for eight years. Jeff Perry also successfully completed an executive management program at the Law Enforcement Executive Center at Babson College. This police endorsement is in addition to the previous endorsements of Sheriff James Cummings and District Attorney Michael O'Keefe.

In the race for State Representative in the 12th Plymouth District, both Republican candidates, Joseph Truschelli and Ben Quelle, have formally endorsed Jeff Perry. For the past ten years, Jeff Perry has been working to help recruit and assist Republican candidates. He has served as the Chairman of the Sandwich Republican Town Committee, been an elected Delegate to the last three State GOP Conventions, and was also elected as a Delegate to the 2008 National Republican Convention in Minnesota.

Congressman Lamar Smith Endorses Jeff Perry for Congress
Says Perry will be a great help on the Judiciary Committee

Rep. Lamar Smith and Jeff Perry

OSTERVILLE - On Sunday, Congressman Lamar Smith (R-Texas) announced his support for Jeff Perry in his bid for U.S. Congress in the 10th Congressional District.

Speaking before a large group at the home of Brian and Liz Shortsleeve, Smith, who serves as the Ranking Member of the Judiciary Committee, told of how he met current State Representative Jeff Perry approximately a year ago after reading his book 'My GOP'. Smith commented on something that caught his attention in the book: Perry's 3-prong test used to weigh every vote Perry takes, saying he believed it has served Jeff well in the State Legislature and will serve him well in Congress.

He was especially impressed with the recent legislation filed by Perry to institute tort reform in Massachusetts, something Smith himself has been working on in Congress. Congressman Smith also applauded Jeff Perry for his work on the issue of illegal immigration.

The Congressman expressed his hope that Perry, once elected, would serve with him on the Judiciary Committee to continue the progress he has made in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Congressman Smith ended his comments by complimenting Mr. Perry for his commanding knowledge of the issues facing our country and his vision and ideas to get the country moving in the right direction. He said "quality candidates like Jeff Perry don't come along often."

"It is quite an honor to have Congressman Smith's endorsement and confidence that I will be able to assist him on the Judiciary Committee to further the work he has done. It would be an honor to serve with him," said Perry.

Perry: Reform government, lower taxes

Reform government, lower taxes
By JEFFREY PERRY
Cape Cod Times - August 04, 2010

During the last eight years as a state Cape Cod Timeslegislator, I have been outspoken about the failures of government and done my best to represent and serve the people of my district. Now, I ask for your support and vote to take this effort to Capitol Hill as your next congressman.

Here are a few of the issues that motivate me to run for Congress:

Reforming government. Our political system in Washington is broken. In recent years, too many members of Congress have violated the public trust. From bailouts and giveaways, improper influences of special interests and back-room deals, to partisan bickering, Americans are not getting what they need or deserve from their government.

We need to restrain the federal government to its legitimate constitutional functions. Our Founding Fathers were most concerned about the possibility of an overly intrusive and powerful central government, and sadly, their fears are becoming true.

At the core of my political philosophy, I will support a limited government; one that looks toward public service instead of self-service.

Taxes, economy and jobs: I am a strong believer in a free-enterprise system that lowers taxes, promotes opportunity and encourages economic growth. Our economy functions at the highest level when our citizens have more of their income to spend, and businesses have money to invest and add jobs. Government should focus on being efficient stewards of the money it already collects and redefine the priorities to meet the needs of the American people.

The key to job growth is not bailouts. Small businesses are the key to quality employment opportunities. I support proposals of tax reductions and tax simplification. I am committed to legal reform measures that will protect small businesses from the effects of frivolous lawsuits.

We need to look to innovative entrepreneurs who will create the opportunities of new and expanded companies. I support constitutional amendments requiring a balanced budget and providing the president with line-item veto power.

  • Health care. I firmly believe that all Americans deserve quality health care coverage, but I am opposed to the health care legislation passed in Congress and signed by President Obama. I know this bill will raise taxes, increase government spending and lower the quality of care we receive, especially for our senior citizens. We need to reform the cost side of health care and not turn our health care decisions over to the federal government.
  • Our troops and veterans. I will unconditionally support our men and women in uniform. A working and aggressive intelligence plan is our best and first line of defense. Congress should ask the tough and necessary questions of the president and the agencies he oversees, but not attempt to interfere with the mission of protecting our home land or supporting our military commanders. I strongly believe as a nation we must always recognize the sacrifices of all of our veterans, military members and their families.
  • Immigration. We, a nation of laws and government, should not adopt policies that encourage illegal immigration. I oppose amnesty. Congress has failed to enact any meaningful legislation, while tens of millions of illegal immigrants remain in the United States. Because immigration is indeed a complex problem, we need a comprehensive plan. We must secure the borders, never allow illegal immigrants to have access to our social entitlement programs and punish employers who exploit illegal immigrants.
